T 9-2-7 UNITY IN DIVERSITY

777 Kč

Accompanying bilingual publication for the group exhibition of the same name on the 15th anniversary of Trafačka with an introduction by Blanka Čermáková, Petr Vaňous, medallions of central artists by Noemi Smolik, Petr Vaňus and Magda Danysz, medallions of all exhibiting artists and an interview with the founding members of the Trafačky Association Michal Cimala, Jakub Nepraš, Jan Kaláb and Blanka Čermáková. Jiří Mocek is the author of the graphic design of the publication and the visuals of the exhibition.

The community initiative, originally called Trafačka, had a strong operational and creative core (Jan Kaláb, Jakub Nepraš, Blanka Čermáková, Michal Cimala) and many nearby and more distant satellites. It was a temporary small galaxy with permeable borders that was constantly in danger of being engulfed by a black hole, which eventually happened. The concept of the exhibition project is also built on this basic thesis. Its purpose is primarily to present the process of transformation itself, which contains both the general summarizing level of social transformation with all its key attributes, as well as the entire system of small transformational movement that is embedded in the works of art themselves. From immaterial gesture to artifact. From the exhibition as a "collective work" to curatorial direction. From a community initiative to a community-functioning cooperative that takes full responsibility and wedges itself between professional Prague and Central European galleries. The works of the authors will be presented on the basis of permeable sets. The core consists of three authors associated with the original idea of Trafačka and its founding - Jan Kaláb, Jakub Nepraš and Michal Cimala. From them spontaneously formed axes develop, which are followed, for a long time or a short time, by other authors working with different intensity in different media. (A separate group then consists of authors on the farthest edge of the "satellite orbit" or those who were invited to episodic collaboration on the basis of affinities in thinking, work and creation or mutual sympathies). Some of them are thematic or media subsets, while some of the sets are, on the contrary, autonomous impenetrable worlds, some very specific – solitary or closed. This Piagetian system of "groups", i.e. semi-permeable units, is also reflected in the transformation concept of the exhibition installation itself. It should be clear from it that a unique "cultural phenomenon" is being presented to the public, which shows a regular internal contradiction - on the one hand, mutual meshing, on the other hand, the variability and temporality of this intertwining at different levels and in different layers. It is simply UNITY IN DIVERSITY, which creates an unrepeatable profile of old and new Trafačka, unity in diversity, which somewhere in the second plan is constantly passing through the primary founding energy invested in a once-starting project, which originally was not supposed to survive more than a few years.
