Bio

Jakub Nepraš (*1981, Prague) is a graduate of the Václav Hollar School of Art (1996–2000) and the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (2001–2006, new media, prof. Michael Bielický). In 2004, he spent a year at FAMU, the Film and Television Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. Jakub Nepraš works with scientific facts, philosophical hypotheses, and his own personal experiences, feelings, and intuitions. He also studies the evolutionary tendencies and behavior of our super-organism with regard to the status of the individual without the larger whole, monitors the natural laws that control and influence these relationships, and reflects on important changes in society, technological development, and people’s resultant alienation from nature. In his work, Nepraš tries to rediscover an original and natural way of life by imbuing contemporary society and technologies with the features of natural, organic processes that he is continually subjecting to research and study
