Bio

Born in 1986 in Prague. Ira Svobodová graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in the studio of M. Rittstein in 2012. In 2009, she completed an important study stay at the Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro.

In the beginnings of her work, inspiration is evident from modern or contemporary architecture and its specific morphology. In the following years, in her work she sensitively analyzes the possibilities of geometrized modeling and the division of space using clearly defined surfaces. She works in series, where she clearly defines the current topic, but does not form strictly closed units. The author's presentation is based on unprecedented concentration, precise order and the chiselling of clearly chosen and reduced colors. In particular, the series of works Void, Paperwork and Paravan are among the highly sought-after works by both gallerists and collectors. Svobodová's work resonates especially in the last few years, when her paintings were presented at several exposed shows. In particular, repeated participation at the Volta fair in New York, or more recently at Art Cologne or Artgenève. The collaboration with gallerists in Los Angeles and Austria was particularly evident.
