Greta Fedora Homzova

Bio

Gréta Fedora Homzová (*2003) is a Slovak artist currently studying in the Painting 3 Studio, led by Josef Bolf and Jakub Hošek, at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. Prior to that, she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. Her practice encompasses paintings and objects distinguished by a powerful and urgent visual language. Alongside painting, she works with unconventional materials such as wood glue, acetone, asphalt, filler, and sunflower oil, allowing them to enter the work as active carriers of meaning. Material itself becomes a vehicle of expression, co-creating an intense emotional and visual experience. Her work has long explored themes of corporeality, vulnerability, violence, death, and transformation. More recently, she has focused on women's experiences, adolescence, and the transition from girlhood to womanhood. She has held solo exhibitions at Galéria 19 in Bratislava (Manuál zbožnosti, 2024), in Sanguinetto, Italy (I Should Much Rather Have a Heart, Grand Tour of Alex, 2025), and at Art Space NOV in Pardubice (Mad as a Human Being, 2026). Her work was featured in the Generace 80–20+ selection published in 365°, the magazine of the Slovak National Gallery, and has also appeared in the journals Irodalmi Szemle and Glosolálie. Together with her sister, Tereza Fedora Homzová, she is the co-author of the zine BA21, which documents contemporary subcultures in Bratislava.
