Anna Neborová: Shadows of backlight

499 Kč

A book presenting a selection of paintings from the last 10 years and including cycles from the author's close environment. The book for Anna Neborová's exhibition of the same name in the Trafo Gallery includes cycles from the author's close environment (objects of daily use, apartment-studio environment, collection of glass vases, toys, etc.). Her painting is characterized by the author's particularization of objectivity - the decomposition of light, the uncertainty of the spatial plans of the painting and work with a kind of dreamlike or magical reality.

The concept of the exhibition, for which the book was published, is based on the last three thematic areas (Near Ghosts, Reach and Collection), which the author worked on between 2012 and 2021. Subject groups are clearly anchored in subject matter, but lack sharply defined interfaces. Rather, they fulfill a tendency to interpenetrate each other, complement and intermingle expressively. At the same time, there is a latently present internal development movement that transforms the author's perception. Anna Neborová's paintings of the last ten years can be said to create a kind of meta-cycle covered by an interest in an analytical view of the relationship between materiality and the passing of time in connection with the changing intimacy of the surrounding space, which this relationship radiates and transforms.

In the Near Ghosts cycle, everyday objects, such as underwear, dresses, coats or pillows, appear on the author's canvases as ghostly apparitions, a kind of altered dream reality, in which not only the shadows but also the lights are irrationally lengthened, and where the space it shrinks and expands elastically, or crumples like paper. While in the Collection attention was paid to specific objects (glass objects) as carriers of representation (perceived singly or in compositions), in the collection Nadosah the analytical nature of the view has already penetrated more significantly into the material world - the approximation of surfaces, contours, frames, form-forming traces, structures, textures , the movement of solid masses, color accents and, above all, views through objects as states of matter.

"Sensitivity is important to me, both in relation to the brush to mix the color, but also sensitivity in life. To be sensitive to the things that are happening around. We don't always succeed. Nevertheless, I feel that life is such an attempt to be sensitive." (Anna Neborová from an interview with Jiří Kovanda in the book Shadows of Counterlight)

The publication summarizes Petr Vaňous's curatorial view of the author's work from the past decades, the painter's interview with the conceptual artist Jiří Kovanda, and a selection of the author's work from the last 10 years.
