We invite you to a unique pop-up event at our showroom in Hall 18, where we will present new works by Ondřej Basjuk.
We will open this small exhibition in the artist’s presence on May 20 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.; the exhibition will then run through June 3, 2026.
Ondřej Basjuk (*1983) is among those artists who engage with the diverse and multifaceted legacy of painting with respect yet without hesitation. It is clear from his paintings, as well as his drawings, objects, and installations, that this is not merely a matter of external self-definition in relation to older artists, nor of superficial attacks on cultural heritage. Yet his work does employ a strategy of alienation, dismantling, decomposition, destruction, and transformation of what we call a painting. For Basjuk, the direct entry point into the issue of transforming or deconstructing the image lies in a shift in the very focus of thought. This actively responds to various forms of manipulation both within and outside of art.
