Lucie Rosická

Bio

Lucie Rosická's work explores the intersection between traditional and contemporary techniques. Her works are a mixture of the hand-making that her grandmother taught her, classical painting and her newfound passion for fabrics and materials. The result is a unique style of figurative art that evokes personal memories and emotions.

She completed a work placement in Turin, Italy, where she discovered the rich history of materials and fashion. This experience stimulated her interest in elevating textile techniques to fine art. In addition, she participated in a residency in New York where she found the freedom to experiment and develop her own artistic vision.

To create her characters, she uses various fabrics, from high-end materials to found fabrics from second-hand shops. Through this medium, she is able to capture the essence of a place or moment in time and convey her personal experiences. She believes that the tactile nature of fabrics allows for a more intimate connection with the viewer, as everyone has a personal relationship with textiles.
