Trafo Gallery exhibits the works of its 12 authors and offers them for charity sale together with a calendar of the same name to help the Low-Threshold Day Center for Homeless People NADĚJE. Art in times of need again helps the needy.

After last year’s pilot project of cooperation with photographer and author of the idea of the charity calendar Trafo Art 2020 Jiří Šourek, Trafo Gallery decided to support the Nízkoprahové denní centrum U Bulhara by publishing a calendar and an exhibition of works representing individual months. The patrons of the calendar and exhibition were architect David Vávra, actress Klára Issová, singer Tomáš Klus, tennis player Tomáš Berdych, actress and singer Berenika Kohoutová, astronomer Milan Grygar, entolomg Anna Vedralová, rapper Orion, cardiac surgeon prof. MUDr. Jan Pirk, DRSC, economist Tomáš Sedláček, journalist Emma Smetana and others.

At a time when the economy and the minds of the people are unstable, we want to sell art for charity to help bridge the complicated time for those who need it, the homeless. We appreciate the work of one of the oldest Czech non-governmental organizations, which was established after 1989 and operates in almost the entire territory of the republic. It provides assistance to the elderly, vulnerable families, the homeless, people with disabilities, vulnerable children and young people. And that’s why we chose NADĚJE.

In Prague, the organization’s employees help an average of 2,500 homeless people a year. Their services follow each other in such a way as to help a person in a difficult situation to return to normal life. They look for people without a roof over their heads right in the places where they survive. They offer them immediate help and follow-up care. They provide this in their day centers, dormitories and shelters. They provide 60,000 nights a year to people who have nowhere to go. They allow clients to regain their strength and, with the help of experts, start solving their life situation.

In low-threshold day centers, they receive anyone who does not have a home and asks them for help. The low-threshold day center U Bulhara, to which this calendar and exhibition were created, is visited by 1,800 people a year. They can eat, take a shower, wash or change their clothes, charge their phone. A fully barrier-free bathroom is available for clients with reduced mobility. The local practice of a general practitioner, dentist and gynecologist treats 1,450 homeless people every year.

100% of the proceeds from the sale of the Trafo Art 2021 calendar and 50% of the contribution from the sale of works of art will enable the purchase of men’s clothing for the needy, contribute to the construction of surgeries and meeting rooms for clients and their hygiene, and help finance medical care.

You can contribute to the support of the Nízkoprahové denní centrum U Bulhara with any financial gift directly to the NADĚJE account: 8002-0316012163 / 0300.
